HQ Troop Safety Saturdays
Enforcement Stats Released

(Lincoln, NE)-  Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln, made nearly 450 contacts during the “Safety Saturdays” enforcement held during the evening hours of Saturday, November 7, 2009.   Work schedules were adjusted so that extra troopers were available to work the special enforcement.

“Everything went pretty smoothly,” said Captain Steve Ayres, Commander Headquarters Troop.  “When you consider the enforcement was held in conjunction with the Nebraska-Oklahoma football game, an event which funnels some 85,000 people into downtown Lincoln, we were extremely pleased with the outcome.”

Troopers made one arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and worked two minor property damage crashes in Lancaster County.  Officers issued a total of 447 summons, violations and warnings, for a variety of offenses to include speeding and seat belt usage.

Headquarters Troop covers Lancaster County as well as an additional 14 counties in Southeastern Nebraska to include; Butler, Cass, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline, Saunders, Seward and Thayer.

This was the fifth of six planned “Safety Saturdays” initiatives across the state.   The remaining “Safety Saturdays” enforcement will be held in Troop B-Norfolk on December 5, 2009.
