Drunk Joy Rider Lands in Richardson County Jail

(Lincoln, NE)- A joyride in a stolen pickup truck lands a 21-year-old Falls City, Nebraska man in the Richardson County Jail.

At approximately 12:14 a.m., on Thursday morning, November 5, 2009, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper heard the squealing of tires and then observed a white Ford F250 heading west on 14th Street in Falls City.  The vehicle failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection of 14th Street and Highway 73, before peeling out and heading north on Highway 73.  The vehicle again squealed its tires as it made a sharp turn east onto 15th Street.   The trooper was able to locate the pickup a few blocks away, parked, facing south on Lane Street.  The trooper initiated a traffic stop, at which time he observed the driver to be intoxicated.  The driver indicated to the trooper he had been “joyriding”.

Further investigation revealed the 2001 Ford F250 pickup owned by a local construction company, had been stolen from in front of the business at 501 Fulton Street, in Falls City.

21-year-old Matthew Koeneke of Falls City, was lodged in the Richardson County Jail on charges to include Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Driving While Intoxicated.
