Four Businesses Cited during
Troop B Fall Compliance Checks

(Norfolk, NE)-  During the month of October, the Nebraska State Patrol in conjunction with the North Central Community Care Partnership (NCCP) Underage Drinking Coalition conducted alcohol compliance checks in Cherry and Boyd Counties.  Compliance checks were also conducted in conjunction with Project Extra Mile in rural Madison County.

On October 3, 2009, alcohol compliance checks were conducted on establishments in Cherry County.  Of the 28 establishments checked, one was found to be noncompliant after selling alcohol to a minor.  One business in Boyd County was found to be noncompliant after selling alcohol to a minor. Twelve businesses in Boyd County were checked on October 10, 2009.

Two of 23 businesses checked on October 15, 2009 in rural Madison County, were found to be noncompliant after selling alcohol to a minor.

The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) provided funding to the agency for the increased enforcement effort.

Compliance checks are conducted to help communities determine the extent of the problem of alcohol sales as a source of youth access to alcohol.  Local law enforcement conducts compliance checks to ensure that businesses are in compliance with the state’s youth alcohol laws.
