NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL www.nsp.state.ne.us Contact: Deb Collins 402-479-4985 October 19, 2009 Vehicle Checkpoint Held in Dakota County(Norfolk, NE)- More than 110 vehicles were checked during a night time vehicle checkpoint Saturday, October 17, 2009, in Dakota County, Nebraska.
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop B Headquarters- Norfolk, assisted by the South Sioux City Police Department conducted the checkpoint on U.S. Highway 77 at West 21st Street, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, beginning in the late evening hours on Saturday (10-17-09) and continuing into the early morning hours on Sunday (10-18-09).
During the 2 ˝ hour special enforcement two motorists were arrested for DUI, while four drivers were arrested for Driving Under Suspension (DUS). Citations were also issued for Possession of Marijuana less than an Ounce (5) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (4).
“Planned enforcements such as night time vehicle checks enable us to enforce potential crash causing behaviors,” said Troop B-Norfolk Commander, Captain Brad Rice. “Officers were able to take drivers off the road that were either impaired or shouldn’t have been driving in the first place.”
