Troopers Stress Traffic Safety
During State Tournaments

(Lincoln, NE) – The Nebraska State Patrol reminds motorists to obey the posted speed limits as they head to Lincoln for the upcoming State Basketball Tournaments.  Troopers will be conducting high visibility selectives during both the Girls and Boys state tournaments.
Beginning Thursday, February 28, 2008, Troopers will focus on several high traffic areas along Interstate-80, in an effort to reduce crashes.  The high visibility selectives will continue through Sunday, March 2, 2008.
Motorists are encouraged to give themselves plenty of time to reach their intended destination, obey the posted speed limit, always buckle up, and never drink and drive.  Several construction projects remain on Nebraska roadways.   I-80 widening projects between Omaha and Lincoln continue.  Drivers are urged to use caution and remember fines double for speeding in construction zones.  Motorists wanting to check road and weather conditions along their route can do so by calling 511, the state’s automated weather and road condition hotline.
Travelers who experience a roadside emergency should call the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline at 1-800-525-555 or *55 on their cellular phone.
