44 Pounds of Cocaine Seized in I-80 Traffic Stop

(Lincoln, NE) – A traffic stop for speeding on Interstate-80 near the 56th Street Interchange resulted in the seizure of 44 lbs. of cocaine with an estimated street value of $500,000.00.
   On Thursday, February 26, 2008, a Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol stopped an eastbound 2001 Chevy Silverado pickup for speeding near mm 404 on Interstate-80 in Lancaster County.  During the stop the Trooper was given permission to search the vehicle.  The search led to the discovery of the cocaine in a compartment under the carpet between the front driver and passenger seat.
   The male driver of the pickup 28-year-old Silbestre Barragan of Phoenix, Arizona and a female passenger 32-year-old Yesenia Millan Gonzalez also of Phoenix, Arizona were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail each on a charge of Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver.  Two minor children traveling with the couple were placed in the custody of Health and Human Services.
