Lincoln Man Cited for Scrap Metal Theft

(Lincoln, NE) – On Sunday, February 24, 2008, a Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol Headquarters Troop-Lincoln cited a 55-year old Lincoln man for Theft by Unlawful Taking for stealing approximately 60 lbs. of scrap metal from a Lincoln business.
Around 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, a Trooper observed 55-year-old Larry Sherman of Lincoln, taking scrap metal from the outdoor bins at GT Exhaust Systems Inc., 4121 NW 37th Street, Lincoln.  Sherman did not have permission from the company to remove the scrap metal, nor does he work for GT Exhaust.
“Our communities are experiencing more and more of these types of thefts,” said Headquarters Troop Captain Steve Ayres.  “The public can be a big help in reducing these types of crimes.   We ask anyone who sees anything suspicious at a business or construction site, to be sure and contact law enforcement.”
Sherman was cited for Theft by Unlawful Taking and released.
