Traffic Stop Yields 84 Pounds of Marijuana

(Lincoln, NE) – A Colorado man is in the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, after a Trooper seized nearly 84 lbs. of marijuana from his vehicle.
   Around 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2008, a  Trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop D Headquarters- North Platte, stopped an eastbound, 2007 Dodge Caravan for speeding, just west of the Maxwell exit (mm185) on Interstate 80 in Lincoln County.   The Trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of four plastic wrapped bundles containing 83.8 lbs of marijuana.  The drugs were located in two black suitcases in the rear cargo area of the mini van.  The marijuana has an estimated street value of $84,000,00.
   The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle 32-year-old Lonnie Kaplan of Colorado Springs, Colorado was lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
