NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEBRASKA STATE PATROL www.nsp.state.ne.us Contact: Deb Collins 402-479-4985 February 4, 2008 Nebraska State Patrol Accepts Trucking Company Donation(Lincoln, NE) – Today, Monday, February 4, 2008, the Nebraska State Patrol accepted an important teaching aide for new recruits. Roadway Express, a leading transporter of industrial, commercial & retail goods through-out Canada, Mexico and the United States, with a hub in Omaha provided the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in Grand Island with a truck-tractor. This generous donation will assist the Nebraska State Patrol in providing training to all Nebraska law enforcement officers, increasing the awareness and understanding of the special conditions that exist while conducting roadside stops and inspections. “Law Enforcement Officers encounter unique challenges when working with commercial motor vehicles,” said Colonel Bryan Tuma, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “These unique conditions can often heighten the dangers that officers already face. The assistance provided and the professionalism demonstrated by the Roadway Express Safety Team is greatly appreciated.” This is the second donation from the trucking company. In 2007, Roadway donated two semi trailers for teaching purposes. “These donations represent another part of the trucking industry’s tireless commitment to support the goal of reducing commercial motor vehicle crashes on our highways,” the Colonel added.
