Traffic Stop leads to Marijuana Seizure

(Lincoln, NE) – Speeding in a Construction Zone on Interstate 80 near the 56th Street Interchange led to the seizure of 106 lbs. of marijuana and the arrest of a California man for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
    At approximately 2:10 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2008, a Trooper stopped a 2008, Jeep Cherokee, near MM 405.   A Nebraska State Patrol canine indicated an odor of drugs coming from the vehicle.   A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of the marijuana.  The marijuana was concealed in U Haul boxes and shoe boxes in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.   The marijuana has an estimated street value of $106,000.00.
    The driver of the vehicle 36-year-old Lawrence Jamerson, of Compton, California was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on a charge of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver.
